I have done some good amount of research on overclocking. I know what process to follow.
I have an intel pentium G3258 Anniversary edition. The motherboard i chose was the MSI B85M-E45.
I tried using the OC Genie 4 software and see what that would do, it just kept at the normal clock 3.2ghz.
The computer fails to boot into windows even with the slightest overclock
I found somewere that my motherboard doesn't overclock with my cpu without a custom cooler.
I rather not go out and buy another cpu as i want to get my money worth with this one

Any suggestions on what i should do?

First off do not use a stock cooler with your CPU you will destroy your CPU. Second do not use a software to overclock it simply is not stable, use your BIOS. A B85M ought to have a fairly user friendly OC option in the BIOS.
