So I have an asusTeK p8h61- m le/ can motherboard ( which on asus's website is listed as the AsusTeK p8h61-m le rev. 3.0), and I am trying to pair it with an Intel i5 3470 3.2 GHz CPU. I can get it to post, and I suspect that is because of the motherboards bios. My question is, is there any way to tell of the bios on the motherboard is compatible with the CPU? And if they aren't compatible, what would the solution be? Also, is the any way to tell if a motherboards bios is compatible with a CPU before purchase? Thanks

*The motherboard has "rev 1.03" prints on it if that helps

They should be compatible. The bios isn't really the way to determine if a CPU will be compatible. Generally you want to look and see if the socket matches (in this case they are both LGA1155) as well as the chipset (H61)

So bios really doesn't matter? And what about the motherboards bios not recognizing the RAM? Is this even possible? ( I have 4gb of ddr3) And any suggestions to determine if the motherboard is the problem? Any can i fix any of these problems, or would I be best just retuenijf it?

Sorry, what I meant to say is the first thing to look at would be the socket types. Since they are both LGA 1155, they are theoretically compatible. If the board is older you may want to try a BIOS update next. Most manufacturers made a new BIOS available when Ivy bridge released. I checked and ASUS did so with this board so once you update, everything should work.

So i can update the bios without the system actually posting? I thought that that was only a feature with certain motherboards, not my own. I know that you have to put the bios on a usb flash drive formatted as fat32, but I thought i needed the system to post before i could actually flash it. Thanks

Cross reference the CPU with the BIOS version here: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H61/HelpDesk_CPU/

You need BIOS version 4013 or higher.
