Restoring your default "Downloads" folder shortcut in Explorer

I have moved my downloads folder to a bigger drive since my SSD is a little on the smaller side. Once I moved it I noticed that I needed to make a folder on the new drive labeled "Downloads" and place the contents in it. The shortcut that normally says Downloads in Explorer says E:. I don't want it pointed at the whole drive. Now I need to move it back but when I try to click on the Restore Default button I get this error "Failed to build the list of regular subdirectories under 'E:\System Volume Information'. Access denied." Where do I go from here? Any help would be appreciated!

Is there anything else on that drive?

There was a couple of folders with files in them. This is Win10 Pro. If I would have been thinking correctly before the move I would have moved everything to a folder on the E: drive. It wasn't until everything was moved that I realized that each folder inside the Downloads folder was moved and placed individually on the E: drive.

Which specific method did you use to 'move' the Downloads folder?
Via Settings, or in File Explorer, Right click, Properties, Location?

I used File Explorer, Right click, Properties, Location. Didn't know about the other method.

Assuming there is absolutely nothing left on that drive, we may have to delete the existing partitions.

1. Create a folder on your current C drive for Downloads.
2. Copy anything off that now hosed up drive to this new folder.
3. Via the same method you did before in File Explorer, make the NEW folder the Download location.

Assuming that actually works and you've tested it, I'd just wipe the existing partitions on that E drive and make a new partition.

Thank you soooooooo much! I now have a corrected User file folder with the correct default folders on my E: drive where I wanted them.
