Hi I'm having problems running battlefield 1 no matter if i change settings, I've tried DX11 and DX12 no difference. I've tried windowed and fullscreen no difference and I'm struggling to understand why my pc cant run the game at a stable playable fps.

The FPS is allover the place going from 80 to 40 to 38 and random numbers and I've noticed my GPU usage is dropping to 1% i know my hardware should be capable to run the game at decent framerates at decent settings.

My specs are

RX 480 8GB
I5 4690k
8GB 1866 RAM

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Updating MB BIOS is fairly easy and not dangerous ...if you are doing it correctly. What MB doe you have? Most vendors usually have a tool that will update the BIOS from the OS.
After a load of threads and me wondering why I have stable fps without a single issue, I dropped my CPU back to fixed 3.7ghz and...yep stuttering with gpu usage drops.

So, I found around 4.2ghz I was able to remain locked at about 80fps in multiplayer.

Which means, on your 10% slower per clock haswell (roughly), you'll need 4.4/4.5 to be safe.

I dont know how true this is across the board, but it's my findings.

I hear ea have identified the 'issue'

That is strange as I could play BF1 ( was beta version) at 1080 @ more than 70fps in med to high settings on a R9 270x 2GB and i5 4440 with 8GB ram. But like I said, it was the BETA version. Have you tried re-installing the latest drivers for your GPU and motherboard? Is your MB BIOS up to date?
