Core2 Quad Q9550 or i3 540 for Windows Home Server

Hey guys

I am planing to build a WHS using one of above processors what processor is best for my home server. I'll be using this to stream media using plex and mainly I'll use this server for learn about windows home server 2012 v2.

my opinion with the i3s they go better than any decent i5 or i7s i done heaps of testing & they are so under rated but great as servers you can get a xeon which is an i7 4 cores hyperthreading just have to run a video card so you can set up your server to suit unless your going to remote acess it but you can use windows 10 for server duties as which i am going to do as 10pro has most these features with it

The i3 will use less power if this is something you plan on leaving on 24/7. Also leaves you with an upgrade path if this is something you are using for learning.
Any reason you are selecting these two processors? Much better options out there, even if its a budget machine.

No any special reasons but I have both these processors. So instead of these 2 what are the other better options I have??

i3 by far hyperthreading makes a difrence i got the same i3 in a teenager daily gamer websurfer all rounder no issues & better support as you can get i5 or i7 in these gen cheap no as what i am doing with this board once i upgrade my stepson i am going to use the same exact specs for my games/music/movies server
