It's been 3 weeks since i've built my new rig . All working fine but there's one thing that annoys me a bit. The whole pc is silent (at least it doesn't bother me at all) all fans are working at 1200rpm and the watercooler at 1500. The only thing that is a bit "loud" is the WD Blue drive. The drive is running on 7200rpm but it's still quiet on idle. When i'm installing a new game , transfer a huge file or loading a game the drive makes a weird noise. Again only when it nearly reaches full load .It's the only mechanical drive there and it's the one i keep my games installed. The noise is like dragging whistle noise making a vzzz sound (Here's a clip i recorded https://soundcloud.com/seazz/wd-blue-whistle-noise/s-QUaYY ) .The drive functions normally , (here is crystal disk mark http://www.mediafire.com/view/71o9neg37oodamo/WDBLUE.PNG# ).
Is it normal?

Hi there SeaZz,

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive. :(

I believe the first thing you should really do, is to back up the important data stored on the drive, until you sort this out.

After that, you can run both short and extended DLG tests on the drive: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=ZL1M2T
The results should show if the drive is in a healthy state.

I can't really open your second link. Could you upload it to a different website?

Let me know how this goes,

It's fine you probably have it mounted in a case that doesn't stop vibrations which won't help, if the Crystal Mark shows nothing bad under SMART it will be fine. You will always get more noise when the drive does something as it will then be seeking which will cause more noise.

I installed and run DLG , i tried a quick test SMART shows everything's good . Maybe i'll try to see if the noise is coming from the HDD tray on the case but i think it's coming from inside the drive, Anyway i'll post another answer if it that was it.

The drive functions normally , It's the case that makes the sound worse , i tried running the drive outside the pc case and i could barely hear any sound. So i tried moving the HDD to the bottom tray and the sound was somehow eliminated. Again big thanks to anyone that wrote on this post.
