Sounds like my PC is totally non functioning but it is! I really need your help figuring out the problem.

I built it 3 years ago with ASUS Radeon HD 7970 GPU - always had problems with intermittent game crashes and browsers closing down when surfing the net etc. Thought it was the GPU, got in touch with ASUS followed all of their troubleshooting plus many others online but nothing worked. Came to the conclusion it was a defective GPU so upgraded to Sapphire RX 480 a few weeks ago but problems are ongoing making it unlikely to be the GPU. The crashes seem to be worse with high spec tasks like playing games (Witcher 3) - this may or may not be accurate - perhaps I'm more aware of it because it's so annoying being kicked out of the game multiple times in a row.

With the old GPU I used to get a "display driver error" pop up. With the new GPU games or the internet still close down but there is no display driver error.

The DELL U2515H monitor is also new - could that be responsible for the new black screens? They occur intermittently for 1-2 seconds and then the picture is back to normal and I can continue what I was doing.

I have tried the GPU in both available PCIe slots with no change
Memtest 10 passes 0 errors
I've uninstalled, reinstalled all the drivers/Windows 10 (this problem still occured on Windows 8 prior to upgrade)
I've made sure to disable multi-screen + internal graphics in BIOS. Running the build just with internal graphics seems to run smoothly but I'm unable to play games etc due to the spec.

Blue Screen of death errors:

rtwlane_13.sys failed

That file is a driver file that was shown to be causing problems.

I took a look at the dump files and the problem appears to be a memory corruption problem. Do you have any new ram you can test out? If not, I would suggest you order some new ram.
I would recommend Kingston Hyper X ram. I use it and it works great for me

Do you have a wifi card in the system? rtwlane_13.sys is mainly used for a Realtek PCIEWireless LAN PCI-E NIC
It could possibly be used for something else but the wifi card is the main usage for it.
As for BSOD, that driver crash could be caused by the same wifi card if you have one installed in the machine.

If you have a wifi card, take it out. Delete the drivers, uninstall the driver software and run the computer with ethernet for a while to see if that fixes the issue

Thanks - there are multiple WAN Miniport network adapters (IKEv2, IP, IPv6, L2TP, Network monitor, PPPOE, PPTP, SSTP) and a Broadcom Netlink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet. Obviously I'm keeping the ethernet but do I uninstall all the drivers for all of the others?

Try disabling all of the devices that are not the gigabit ethernet. If the internet still works on the computer after doing that, uninstall those devices and delete driver software too if it asks.
See if that fixes your problem. If not report back here and Ill help you try to figure out what else is causing the issues.

Damn. Alright. Download and install Who Crashed
http://www.resplendence.com/whocrashed

The next time that the system crashes, Dont restart your machine, let the system finish gathering the dump file and then it will restart itself. One booted, run Who Crashed and analyze the dump file. Once done, copy and paste all of what Who Crashed says. Hopefully that will give us some more info on the crashes.

My PC never restarts unless it's R/BSOD. The main thing is it kicking me out of a game onto the desktop or my internet browser shutting down.

Memtest86+ 10 passes 0 errors

No change after uninstalling and physically removing WLAN hardware.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

15 crash dumps have been found and analyzed. Only 5 are included in this report. A third party driver has been identified to be causing system crashes on your computer. It is strongly suggested that you check for updates for these drivers on their company websites. Click on the links below to search with Google for updates for these drivers:

rtwlane_13.sys (Realtek PCIE NDIS Driver 28199, Realtek Semiconductor Corporation )

If no updates for these drivers are available, try searching with Google on the names of these drivers in combination with the errors that have been reported for these drivers. Include the brand and model name of your computer as well in the query. This often yields interesting results from discussions on the web by users who have been experiencing similar problems.

Read the topic general suggestions for troubleshooting system crashes for more information.

Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.

Alright, go to C/Windows/system32 and search for rtwlane_13.sys
Once you find it, delete it and empty the recycling bin. Then restart the computer.

If the computer still crashes, you'll have to open the search in windows 10 (i think its where cortana is, I was start10 so yeah)
Then search for %systemroot%\Minidump and it will show a folder called Minidumps
Find the latest dump file by sorting the files by time. Once you have the latest dump file, upload it to an online file sharing host and post the link here so I can download the file and analyze it.
