need criticism on my first build (1000ish $)

hi,

this is my first pc build.
what can be inproved on this build? (with staying in the 1000$ range, 50$ more or less doesnt matter.
Im going to use it for gaming and school.
im going to buy a second hand 1080p monitor. or should i go for a 1440p (im staying with the gtx 1060 because of my budget)
and should i get a aftermarket cooler or should i stay with stock

I would say that you could get a cheaper motherboard unless there is some feature you really need and know you are going to use on that board. Use that extra money to get a slightly better SSD and upgrade to a 6600 for $10 more.

For that money you should grab a H170 Hyper and overclock that CPU ;)

That's true but overclocking on an H170 can still cause problems. If he wants to stretch his performance as much as possible thats a good option but it will limit the lifespan of the CPU since they are not meant to OC.
