Is the minimum dedicated video ram enough to play without issues?

Hello everyone,

I have a short question I couldn't find the awnser for.

Battlefield 1 released and it's seem really interesting. To make sure I could run it, I went to systemrequirementslab.com and did the can I run it test. The test showed me that I had all recommended requirements but for my videocard's dedicated ram. I do have the minimum dedicated video ram for battlefield 1 which is 2gb, my videocard has 2048 mb. The card I have is the gtx 960. The site recommended 4 gb of video ram.

My question is: since I have the minimum video ram can I play battlefield 1 without problems?

I am not really sure what video ram does. But I assume it does the same as regular ram but graphical uses?

'Recommended' and 'Minimum' are two different things.

Provided you're reasonable with settings & don't expect a GTX 960 2GB to max everything at 1080p, you'll have a very decent gameplay experience (based on the card alone). What are the rest of your specs?

VRAM isn't everything though, there's much, much more to a GPU than simply VRAM - there are numerous cards in a 2GB, 3GB, *3.5GB*, 4GB, 6GB & 8GB brackets, with varying degrees of performance & raw horsepower.

A GTX960 is still a respectable card, and certainly won't stop you running any game in existence - just realize it's not a top of the line "max everything" kind of card.

It's good to know that I will probably have a good gameplay experience. I don't mind playing with not having everything on max.

For my other specs: cpu: Intel i7-4790k 4.00 ghz ( it is currenly bottlenecked by my gtx 960, I meant to get a new videocard but never did), Ram: 24gb, windows 10 64 bit, motherboard: gigabyte z97x - gaming 3.

I played the Beta at ultra settings with Intel Core i3-4160 3.6GHz, GAINWARD GeForce GTX 960 2GB GDDR5 and 8GB DDR3 1600MHz installed on my AMD Radeon R3 240GB SSD at 1080p 50-60fps without any VRAM issues, so you'll be fine unless you have a worse CPU or lower than 8GB of RAM.
