So my computer has been on the frits recently and I've been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out why. Here are the problems it's having.

1. I get bluescreens when I'm doing things memory intensive.
2. My computer won't bring anything up when I try to go to properties on any folder.
3. My hard drive use spikes to 100% quite often.
4. My google chrome will randomly lose connection and work after refreshing about 5 times.

I've done a few things to try and see what is wrong. First I switched out the ram for some new ram from my brothers computer and it still had the same issues with the hard drive spiking. When putting my ram in his computer it would cause his hard drive usage to spike as well.

I've tried formatting but it won't allow me to, even when doing it from the disc drive with a windows cd.

I've ran a memtest with loads of errors on the cpu I believe.

Just one of these things would be easy enough to figure out, but with everything acting weird it's hard to pinpoint. My best guess would be the motherboard at this point but I'm wondering if any of you have any suggestions.

Since you have a Western Digital HDD, there is a good program to use to check the HDD,

First run Quick test. Even if you get a failure there, go for Extended test that checks the whole drive for bad sectors.

Since i too have 2 WD HDDs in my build, i ran the Quick test on both of my drives. My WD Blue 1TB (WD10EZEX) passed the Quick test while my WD Blue 500GB (WD5000AAKX) failed the Quick test (d*mn, it's the 2nd WD Blue 500GB (WD5000AAKX) that is dying on me). Since i also have SpeedFan program, it too has the HDD health check and i already knew that my 500GB is dying slowly. Time to get a new HDD, this time i'll avoid WD Blue 500GB (WD5000AAKX).

At current info, your RAM...

HDD spikes suggest failing HDD. But before you swap it out, there are few things to do.

First, i'd like to know your full system specs. After knowing what you have, i can give better troubleshooting advice.

Do note that when you get errors on Memtest, it doesn't show that your CPU is bad, it shows info only about RAM and the errors in the RAM sticks.

Of course, I thought it might the HDD but after seeing my brothers drive spike when putting my ram in his pc I was clueless again.

Specs
CPU: I7 4770k
Mobo: Asus maximus hero vi
Graphics: Geforce 770
Ram: I'm not at home so I can't check at the moment but I believe it's corsair vengeance.
HDD: WD Blue 1tb

At current info, your RAM seems bad and so does your HDD, but do the HDD health checks, both Quick and Extended.
Post the results here.

I have one more idea what to do but that requires you having a free USB flash drive that is atleast 3GB in size.
