Im planning on building a gaming pc with a EVGA 500w power supply. How will this affect my power at my house? Is a standard wall socket enough? will it raise power bills or when I plug it in would i blow a fuse in a normal socket. I am very new to building PCs and this is the last obstacle in my way. Thanks

Power usage depends on the certification i.e gold, platinum and how long/intensely the system is used. The bills will increase ever so slightly as you are powering another electronic device. Standard wall socket is fine although i would recommend the use of a decent surge protector to keep the pc safe, and no you wont blow any fuses unless there is already a problem with building wiring although this wouldnt be specific to the pc.

What is the default voltage of your house? It doesn't change much. The question here is IF your circuit breaker can hold the house's actual energy requirements AND your pc, but it probally will.

Power Supplies usually doesn't take much of your energy, and almost all power supply coust less than 100$ per year so you don't need to worry about it. If you are buying a NEW power supply, it sure have some protection modules, so you also don't need to worry if the voltage is wrong. And it shouldn't change that much. At least if you don't turn on two showers, a tv and your pc at the same time...

Btw, sockets basically are inputs. When you plug something on it, the circuit breaker of your house will send energy to it. How much? Everything that what is plugged on the socket needs. If it is more than it can hold, then the entire house will go dark.

How do showers effect the electricity?

Yes a wall socket is just fine, you can run several computers off a single circuit with no issues.

A mid-range gaming system on full power will use about the same electricity as having about 5 60 watt light bulbs on or two decently efficient TVs.
