So I am moving into a condo fairly soon and am looking to set up a home ethernet connection. Problem is, i can't run any wires into the walls and roofs (I can probably get it so i can run the cable THROUGH the walls, meaning getting the cable from one side of the wall to the other, but i can't go into the wall and run the entire cable through there, If you know what i mean, i can also have the cables run ALONG the walls, just not inside of them) because I'm pretty sure that is against the terms and conditions. My condo has 2 bedrooms, one of which will be used as a home office, which will have my PC as well as a printer and I'm currently saving my pennies for a NAS device in the future, My bedroom will have my laptop which i want connected to ethernet. Mu condo also has a living room, which will have a PS4, an apple tv, and a samsung smart tv, all of which i want connected to ethernet. I do NOT want to invest in power line networking specifically because i don't know enough about it yet to really be sold on it, and i am looking at using CAT 5e which the condo DOES NOT have built in. I am looking at a modem and a router as well as a small 8 port switch and am looking for a way to organize my network without having to go through walls and roofs. I also will only use WIFI for mobile devices, because wifi just does not have the speed that i am looking for in my normal home network commute. I may have to do exposed ethernet wiring so if any of you know how to organize an exposed cable network that would be great. Im more a computer hardware person and am still studying networking and am a bit of a noob at the moment so please excuse me.

Your only avenue is using cat 5 e and various wire channeling you can get from Home depot. Its gonna look crappy but work.

I owned a Co-Op and you can generally do whatever the hell you want up to the studs, so I see no reason you can't run wiring through the walls in a condo. That said studs go up and down so getting ethernet from one room to another would require gutting the place.

They make cable guides that are put on the surface of the wall. Generally there is a small space under the baseboards between the edge of the carpet and the wall. Many times you can carefully force the wire under the baseboards. You can also just staple them to the top and paint them to match.

The main issue will be if you need to cross a doorway. If you do not have a wife that cares taped to the ceiling works also.

Be careful not to buy the thin or flat wire on the market. Get pure copper cable with wire gauge between 22 and 24. Any other cable is not certified and you will have issues.

If you don't own it, you are pretty much dead in the water as far as punching holes on walls.

If underneath you is garage space/craw space, and/or is a single story and on top of you is attic then is relatively easy to go: Wall - Up - Attic - Down - Wall, OR Wall - Down - Craw - Up - Wall. You may be able to convince landlord, "look I need this wired, I will hire a licensed contractor, I pay for everything" and hopefully he says yes.
