Hi Guys,

I m receiving following error every time when I try to boot, and also when enter DELL OpenManage Server app.

1. Failling pdrive on Virtual drive!!!!
2. Failling battery on PERC controller!!!!

When booting and message appears I jus press C for continue, and system boot up and SERVER is too.

------------------

Everything was OK, until my friend noticed that one drive case wasnt locked properly and he took out the hole casing, plug it in again while MACHINE was off as he said. (Machine had to go off becouse one of fans somehow got stuck with smt, and was making a lot of noise in s. room).

Just after that I started receiving error as mentioned above and no clear pic what to do next couz SERVER needs to stay alive and running asap.

Few things. Looks like you are running a RAID 5 which is good. Was it a 3 Drive RAID 5 with a Spare or a 4 Drive RAID 5 with no spare?

Boot into the PERC BIOS. On the first screen should be VD Mgmt. Highlight Controller 0 and Press F2. A sub menu should come up. Then go down to Foreign Config and then clear.

This will allow the Controller to now reuse the drive. The thing is if the drive is really failing then we need to replace it. The only program I know that can read health status of RAID controller drives is HD Sentinel which you can get here http://www.hdsentinel.com/

I'm not sure exactly what the Trial version shows (There is no free version) But if you have mission critial drives it is good to buy. We have been buying it for...

Download HD Sentinel first. If the drive is bad replace. if the drive is good clear it. It will then just either make it as a spare or rebuild the RAID 5 on its own.
