That z97 board supports OC, but take note of the RAM frequency. SOme of those RAM you listed are 1600Mhz. 1333Mhz is the default, but it supports modules up to 3100Mhz http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4968#sp

The best there are the PNY and GSkillz, but aim for high frequency and low latency.

All DDR3 RAM will overclock on a Z97 board.

Would that Kingston HyperX Fury 1600 overclock to 2400 or more on z97? It says automatic overclock up to 1866.

No. You need 2400Mhz RAM for a 2400Mhz OC. Manually overclocking is risky and can get problematic so I wouldn't do that.

RAM on both boards will run at default 1333Mhz unless XMP is enabled.

CL10 1866 about the same as CL11 2400?

Yeah generally speaking the lower the CAS the better. And that one has an 1866Mhz XMP profile (they all run 1333Mhz default). It isn't going to make a big difference from the 1600 but it'll work fine.

Reading around on the forums, it sounds like higher clocked memroy running at lower clocks also runs at lower latency. So I could run the CS11 2400 at CS9 1600 until I get the new mobo? Or would a z97 be required to run at lower latency?

Yeah generally speaking the lower the frequency, the lower the latency as the relays are shorter, but we are talking miniscule differences. The CAS is more important on DDR3 than DDR4 but you wont notice. You would be best off somewhere in the middle, and the latency will be the same on both boards.

The 2400/11 roughly equates to 1866/9 though you lose the greater bandwidth of the 2400 data rate

I then got a GA-Z97X-Gaming 7 motherboard and was able to overclock it to 2133MHz CL11-14-14-36 1.65V.
