Yeah generally speaking the lower the frequency, the lower the latency as the relays are shorter, but we are talking miniscule differences. The CAS is more important on DDR3 than DDR4 but you wont notice. You would be best off somewhere in the middle, and the latency will be the same on both boards.

Would that Kingston HyperX Fury 1600 overclock to 2400 or more on z97? It says automatic overclock up to 1866.
