Hello!

Recently I have been thinking about upgrading my Predator G3620's graphics card from an Nvidia GTX 630 to an Nvidia GTX 980. However, I have seen that a few years ago people with the same PC have had problems upgrading their GPU. I would like to know if anyone knows whether this problem has been solved or if it still persists.

My PC specs can be found at this website:
https://www.cnet.com/products/acer-predator-g3620-ur308-core-i7-3770-3-4-ghz-12-gb-2-tb/specs/

Thanks in advance for any help!

I looked up your motherboard specs. basically it's just horrible... lol

so what you got there is a nice i7 CPU... WOOOT WOOOT

but a cheap mobo... :((((((((((((((((

I see you've got the PCI-express slots... but they are only x4... generally you want your GPU to run an x16... But, in either case, the GPU will be compatible. It should still work in the x4 slot.

What you're looking at is really.. loss in performance from the GPU... less frame rates... more lags.. anomalies. Best solution is to upgrade both mobo and gpu... :( although most of the motherboards are either not sold anymore or just wayy too expensive for the lga 1155

Assuming the card fits in there physically, I'd expect it to drop right in and replace that 630. It needs two 6 pin connectors though, not just the wattage. The manual I saw said it was a PCI X16 slot. I have seen secure boot being mentioned as a problem so I'd look into shutting that off if you can.

from what i understand the x16 will still work in x4. but yeah, there could be issues.
