PC Poor Performance

I have a gtx 970 oc and an i5 4690k 8gb ram, I have been getting what I think poor performance for my system, Battlefield 1 feels choppy and just not smooth for most of it, and I don't feel like I've been getting the performance I used to get. I recently overclocked it and had it crash when I tried to play Battlefield 1, got a blue screen that said I had to restart, and I think from that point performance has been shit.

For reference I used 3D Mark Time Spy to benchmark my system and got 1617 with 10 fps throughout, I looked online with people getting way higher scores with the gtx 970, did I just brake my gpu? ;(

Solution
BF1 is pretty well optimized, but it's also pretty CPU heavy. If you turn down your graphics settings and it gets better then you know its the 970, if it doesn't get better then it's CPU bound... which I would be slightly surprised by. Is the 4690k overclocked?

Is BF1 choppy during multiplayer or during the campaign? If it's choppy during multiplayer and not during campaign it's server issues/your internet issues/package loss/etc. If it's choppy during both, there's an issue in your system.

Edit: Reading through your GPU explanation... Are you sure you're using the 970 and not the iGPU? I'd be surprised if a BSOD caused it to switch, but maybe when you set it to defaults it switched your GPU?

maybe but what about the 3D Mark score, shouldn't it be considerably better?

alright i restarted my pc and went into bios, mostly forgot what to do but I didn't see any mention of a gpu in everything I checked, temperatures, monitoring hardware, and at the top of the screen it said my cpu, ram, etc. but no gpu, bad sign I guess?

I checked in this thing called board view or something, and It showed the gpu running x16 or something

ok something really weird just happened, I opened overwatch and I got an error message saying I overclocked my gpu and caused the game to crash, even though i reset it
