What's the best $150-250 CPU to go w/ a GTX 970?

The title pretty much describes it all, I've had my eyes on the i5 2400 but I lack extensive knowledge on the CPU market right now and I'm a content creator so I need something with a bit more power but I haven't an idea of what would give me the best price to performance margin. In short, I don't want to overspend on something I won't utilize at least 80% of the time.

CURRENT RIG:

GPU: GTX 970
CPU: FX-8350
MOBO: GA-78LMT AM3+
RAM: DDR3 1600 MHz 8bg RIPJAW Series
PSU: EVGA 650 GQ
No SSD
Western Digital 1TB, 7200rpm

You'd want an i7 for any meaningful increase in performance above your fx for video encoding. The others aren't as highly threaded so the increase in ipc will help either way. Are you going to reuse any parts? $1000 could easily fit a 6700k.

as of now I have an AMD chipset, FX8350/AM3+, GA-78LMT-USB3 is the mobo. I plan on going for the lga 1151/Z170 platform, though if there is a better solution such as the 1155 socket then by all means I wouldn't mind switching if that saved me money

Having a specific budget for just 1 component doesn't make much sense in the whole scheme of it. We need a total budget. Also it sounds like you will use it for content creation but your name says gamer. Just need clarification. Also content creation is too broad and we need more specific info. What software would be the best bet.

It'd be a flexible $1000 budget, Adobe Premier/Video Editing and Photoshop/Illustrator are an example for what I'd be endeavoring in

I've added the current build I have in the OP as an EDIT, my mistake on forgetting about that

All but the Mobo and RAM (obviously). Had originally planned going with the 6700k but I hadn't any idea if I'd be utilizing a $300 CPU when a $200 or $150 would've done just as good. The threads make it more apparent now.
