Hello,

I have a problem with my wireless network signal in an apartment block house. We need to connect 2 rooms, that have a whole floor in between them (at least 2.5m). That means at least 2 concrete walls.
There is a Tenda W311R+ N150 router with a detachable 5dBi (not sure about this one) antenna that works on the upper floor.
PC that needs a wireless access on the lower floor has TP-LINK TL-WN722N 150Mbps High Gain Wireless USB Adapter with a 4dBi detachable antenna.
I know that in order to get a good signal antennas should be parallel to each other, which is kind of impossible here because PC is nearly right below it. Although it is receiving a signal and I can browse some web pages, it is still extremely slow.
What I wanted to ask was, what I could do to increase the signal strength. At the moment I have thought of 3 options:
1) better antennas for both router and USB adapter;
2) wireless signal booster (note that I cannot use the apartment that is in between these 2 rooms, so I cannot place it right in the middle for optimal performance);
3) powerline adapters (I do not know how exactly they work though).
I can reach more than 90Mb/s through Ethernet cable. How much speed could I lose in the process if using range extender or powerline adapter?

Thank you in advance!

Solution
range adapters work you have to place them where it will pick up good signal & boost it where you need it can updgrade to a 300mb wifi card what i am using in 3 my set ups where modems wifi a bit hit or miss with a booster no connection issues get a 300mb wifi card & try that first

The repeater ideally would need to be on the floor you don't have access to. Powerline adapters might work but I expect you wont be on the same circuitry as the other apartment. Are these 2 separate apartments? You best bet pay for a second service if you want a reliable connection in both!
