I had a very simple, and probably straightforward (for you to answer) question...

I was looking at purchasing an NVidia GTX 1060 3GB (Asus Dual Prob) or 6GB if I could swing it... until I got wind the 1050TI series was to conclude this 10 series of pascal architecture...

After waiting a week, when the 25th came I suddenly realized Canadians aren't getting the selection our US counterparts will, which I expected...

The Gigabyte 1050 TI cards were sold out, so it was a selection between MSI's Gerforce 1050 TI 4G Gaming X at $6 more than Asus's 1050Ti 4G Dual Competitor...

I frantically chose Asus's, first because I trust their name in reliability support, and second because it was cheaper.

I then realized the MSI card offers (lists) better Clock speeds and also the 6 pin power supply connector

I just purchased an EVGA 600w power supply so a 6 pin connector is not an issue,

1. Does the 6 pin power connector really matter if the card is set to run at speeds under 75w...

2. Does the 6 pin connectoir allow a card to run at 150w, 75 through PCI-e slot and 75 through 6 pin connector for overclocking?

3. Is the MSI card priced higher and called gaming x for any major reason or are both cards going to perform relatively similar.

4. I've heard already of the MSI 1050ti's overheating while in silent mode with fans not running, kind of a reason I chose the asus card to begin with.

5. Can a 6 pin connector be soldered onto the asus card? and would there be any reason to do so?

6. Why are there 20 reviews of the MSI cards but I cannot locate 1 for the asus card running the sames chip?

Thanks...

PS. Is it worth the Extra $100 for an Asus Gtx 1060 3GB??

I appreciate any or all input or views for guidance... Any help is welcome.

Solution
1) no I doubt the 6pin connector will make any difference
2) no, the firmware on the card will prevent it going anywhere near 150w.
3) The gaming X is priced higher as that cooler is MSIs best one, where as the "Dual" is Asus mid range one, with the Strix as their top.
4) not heard that.
5) Possibly but probably no point, plus you would void your warranty.
6) I suspect MSI sent out review samples.

Yes the 1060 is worth the extra money if your pc specs are good enough to make full use out of it.

Thanks bud for the input...

I just thought maybe I made the wrong choice, but I still have gtx 210's and the old four digit geforces, and the only ones still working are asus,

I'll stick with what I bought. Much Appreciated...

Thanks, thats what I wanted to hear. For what I'm putting it up against, I should be fine. Still wouldn't mind seeing a review or two posted on any other brands besides msi for comparison.
