850 EVO Firmware Update

I've currently got an 850 EVO 250gb and when I bought it I made sure that I did a firmware update. I'm now planning on buying a new one and then use the old same one as fast gaming storage. When I install the OS, will I have to do a firmware update on the new SSD?

Will the software mess up and detect that one of my SSDs are updated and the other one won't be?

You never "have to" do a firmware update on a component, assuming it works out of the box. I'm not sure what a firmware update to an SSD encompass, but I imagine it's just some very small performance improvements or bug-fixing.

If both SSD's work, you should be fine.
