Can't increase core clock

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a Gigabyte Windfore GTX 750ti, the 4GB version, and I love it. It is a fantastic card for just 130 bucks. I used it to upgrade an aging Lenovo Thinkstation S20, which is a great workstation pc. One problem though, using either MSI Afterburner or Gigabyte's OC Guru II, I cannot get the GPU Core Clock above the factory settings (it is factory overclocked to 1058 MHz). I get some great performance out of this card, and fantastic temps (never higher than 32 C), so I thought I could push those clocks higher no problem and get a bit more performance out of this thing. I can only increase the effective memory speed though, I raise the core clock with the above mentioned programs, but it never goes above the factory setting of 1058 MHz. I included a few screenshots. Any idea why it stays at this clock setting, and won't go any higher?

Solution
It's dynamic and will only increase under load. Try a Kompressor stress test and see what the clock speed is in Afterburner then.

Also, depending on settings, a reboot can erase a GPU overclock by the way. Choose the option in Afterburner to start with Win dows and save the profile to avoid that happening.

It's actually under load at the time of these screenshots, I have a game running on the second monitor utilizing the GPU but you were right! Maybe the game just didn't use enough of the GPU to increase it? None of my games utilize enough of the GPU to increase it then, because when I'm running Fallout 4 it's running at 1058 MHz :\

Then yeah it just means you aren't utilizing the full clock speed, but you can change that by locking the performance level in Nvidia Inspector in the overclocking section if you wanted.

As your GPU is capable of the set clockspeed, it just means the game doesn't demand enough! Is always nice to hear the game can't keep up, instead of the system.. Try upping the game settings to see if core clock rises. If not I guess it could be a problem.

Yeah I ran several games and brought up the GPU monitor, I saw a usage of no more than 32% of my graphics card in every game. I'll try messing around with the nvidia control panel then so I can get a few more frames in fallout :) Thanks for the help!
