Hello,

Recently I bought 2 Western Digital Single bay My Cloud. One to store my local backups and a second one to make a copy of the first cloud storage to the second one so I could keep a backup out site my home.
This is what I did also with a previous edition (MyBook live).
WD says now to me that only the new single bay storage doesn't support external backup-ups even when an icon is build in to create a remote storage. All other my cloud storages does support the remote backup. The version I bought is firmware 2.xx.xx. The previous firmware version 4.xx.xx does support a remote backup.

WD wouldn't help me to solve this issue so does any one know a solution how to fix this? Otherwise I want to warn other customers about this lack of functionality of this my cloud edition.

Kind regards,

Richard Meijn

Would not expect WD to place such a restriction per se.

I can see a built-in backup to the cloud via the first drive.

And I can see a built-in back to the cloud via the second drive.

Would not expect some built-in 1) back up to cloud, and then 2) a built-in backup to second drive (wherever it may be) both residing on the first drive.

Therefore if you wish to back up the first drive to the second drive then some third party app would be needed.

However, there are some WD folks who follow this forum. Hopefully one of them will post additional comment and address the matter....

In the meantime, feel free to clarify your requirements and/or correct my understanding of what you are trying to accomplish.

Hi,

Al other cloud devices and my previous MyLive edition are able to create a remote backup localy to a second storage with the remote backup option. Only the Mycloud Single bay doesn't support this. And i don't know why. It was build in in the previous editions but not in the singe bay edition any more.
