As the title suggests I'm looking for the adapter for my computer. I don't really want to spend $80 for a charger, even though my macbook still works beautifully (especially after installing an SSD). My concern is the quality of the usual knock-offs that I'm seeing on sites like Amazon and Newegg. One thing I've come to learn is that you can't trust a chinese Knock-off to last more than a few months.

Question: Does anyone have any positive experience with a third party mag-safe charger for the mid 2012 macbook pro unibody (60W L Shaped) or should i just bite the bullet since i know the Apple product will last. (I bought my macbook in about 2013 and still have the working charger, so i know this new charger will last till my mac dies)

I knew they were out there and I ended up with one. It is the 85W model. The giveaway was the light stayed green after disconnecting it, and if you look at the Apple logo imprinted on the case it is much more shallow than the real thing. It also seemed to run hotter. I still use it to charge my 2009 MacBook, but don't use it on my newer ones as I would be a little upset if it damaged one of them.

I recommend biting the bullet and getting the Apple one. I have bought used original equipment ones on eBay for +-$40 so you don't need to shell out $80 unless you want a brand new one from the Apple store. But if your peace of mind is worth $40, get a new one.
