So I'm planning to upgrade my Asus GTX 750 TI to Zotac GTX 1060 6gb, I was just wondering will it bottleneck my i3-4160? I was thinking on upgrade my GPU 1st then work my way on i5-4690 on later months.

Games planning to play: AAA
Rise of Tomb Raider
Battlefield 1
Overwatch
Deus EX Mankind Divided

Playing on 1366x720 resolution though, and wondering if I can set it to high to ultra settings.

Solution
A 750 ti is not too bad for 720p, I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish here. A 1060 will certainly perform better than a 750ti at 1080p, but you don't mention upgrading your display. If you could be a bit more specific about the kind of performance you're getting now and what you hope to achieve with a 1060 then you might get more helpful answers.

edit: It occurs to me that some games' 'ultra' settings might require a certain amount of vram. Your 750 ti, with 2gb, might be unable to play at ultra for that reason. If that's the case, a less expensive 4gb card, like an RX 460 or 1050ti, might allow you to play at 720p ultra and not cost as much.

Using a gtx 1060 for gaming at 1366 x 720 is a real waste IMO . Its too powerful for that.
The 1060 is more suited for running games at max at 1080p resolutions.

Anyways , considering you will be playing at 720p with a 1060, the fps will be very high which will cause your i3 to bottleneck. I have a 1060 too and even my i5 4460 is bottlenecking it at 1080p.

yeah, i was also considering getting a gtx 1050ti instead of 1060, part of me says that gtx 1060 is overkill for that kind of resolution so what about 900p? if I get a new monitor lets say with a resolution of 1600X900, is it worth getting the gtx 1050 ti with most games settings to ultra? I'm a hardcore gamer especially playing campaign solo missions or good story games and want to experience epic graphics, not really fan of 1080p, the resolution is too big for me when playing overwatch, I want to minimize moving my head too much on the screen
