Bought a 4770k off ebay, seems to be working fine but the temps are higher than I'm used to. Installed with stock copper core intel heatsink and was idling around 50 and hitting low 80's in game. Took off the cpu and replaced the thermal paste with some arctic silver. Then it seemed to idle around 40 and hits mid 70's in games. Just got done playing two and a half hours of bf1, and when I alt tabbed to check my temps it said the max was 85, which feels way too high. Never actually saw it get that hot, I don't know if temps lower when you alt tab but still freaked me out.

Is this normal for this cpu? Doesn't seem like it, is it possible i got a bad chip? Thanks for any responses.

Here is my temps right after bf1:

My case looks like this one:
http://www.fusioncomputerusa.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/logisys-cs888uvbl-1.jpg
Front fan is intake, back is exhaust. My temps on the motherboard are normal, around 33 on idle.

The make model is stock intel cpu cooler, the one with copper core instead of all alluminum.

Guess I'll just buy a cryorig7 next time I have a little cash, based on the responses it seems like im overreacting.. lol

I understand Intel wouldn't ship CPU coolers that would damage it... maybe read my post a little more... I got this cpu used off ebay, and looking up temps online you see some people with the same issue have others tell them their 4770k runs way cooler. Usually half the post where people have the same temps, they end up fixing it by reseating the cpu or changing thermal paste. (Both things I already have done). That's why the second question I asked was " is it possible i got a bad chip?" which no one has acknowledged yet..
