I am looking to buy a GPU i am looking at the gtx 1070 , 1060 and the raedon rx 480. In your opinion do you think the gtx 1070 would be OP for 1080p and if so should i go for the 1060 option or the raedon rx 480. My only concern with getting the gtx 1060 is that it will not be able to run the vulcan games as gd as the rx 480 and there is no SLI option.

Whats your opinion?

Edit:

my current setup:

i7 6700k overclocked to 4.5
32gb ddr4 2400mhz
1 sata
4 hdd
1 dvd w and r
asus ranger viii
readeon 6670 hd

Solution
Personally with that setup I would get the gtx 1070, you have a nice i7, give it something equal strong as counterpart so it has to work :) I have an i7 4790 and with my 1070 they make a nice balanced pair, so would the i7 6700k :)

I would get the RX 480, just because if you buy the 8gb version, like you said, would help you significantly in frame rates. Good luck, and this is just my suggestions!

I believe in buying the best GPU for your budget, unless your system has other more pressing needs. What I mean is that if you've got an old core 2 duo you shouldn't blow a huge chunk of cash on a 1070 when really a CPU/mobo upgrade is needed. In general though a faster GPU lasts longer and gives you headroom if you did decide to upgrade your monitor.

Personally I am running a 1060 and it is totally fine at 1080p in all games I've tried, the RX480 is a great card but I wouldn't get too hung up about SLI in the mid range, if you've the cash to buy two just get a faster single card. If I was you I would get the 1070 assuming your system is generally pretty fast, failing that I would get the RX480 and use the money saved towards improving other parts of the system.

Don't get the GTX 1070- Simple choice. Get the RX 480, and your computer will allow you for upgrades and let you add another RX 480 in the future, which performs better than a single 1080. In the way I see it, buy one RX 480 now and save up the rest of your money to get upgrades in the other components.

Why get that when you can get a RX 480 with Vulkan for the time being and add another one later to perform better than the 1080 or get other upgrades? You also have to look at long term effects, direct x12 is supported in all cards and OpenGL doesn't really do shit. A lot of recent game developers are adding Vulkan API to their games, so that would be my preference.

Because the 1070 does very good in DX 12 aswell and crossfire does not always work properly so that is not a certainty. I would pick a single 1070/1080 over 2x rx 480's anyday, because with a single high end card you always know that you get that power.

Crossfire will give you a lot more options and can run very well, pretty hard to mess up, honestly. Crossfiring is good because he'll get 16gb of vram also in case he wants to run 1440p-4k, and I think it'll be better for the long term effects. If it was my suggestion, get the RX 480.

He could also get a single 1070 now, which is more than enough and get second one later to run in SLI and then he has even more power? But I would always get the strongest single gpu you can afford, because that will always work. Everyone has his own preferences though :)

Eh, I would go for SLI, more vRam, vulkan support, overall better performance for the same price for 1 GTX 1070. Well, it's all to OP's preference. Good luck OP!
