I run two different (one 1080p 60hz monitor one 1080p 144hz monitor) using intel hd graphics to power the 60hz display for things like web browsing and my gpu(r9 290) to run my 144hz monitor. i have been having issues with games freezing and i am wondering if thats it. the games are normally ran in windowed mode on the 144hz monitor with the r9 290. thanks in advance

It's probably something related to Intel Drivers and the strange way Windows manages displays. Why don't you just plug in everything to the R9? There's barely any performance impact, it's just not worth the hassle that using a separate GPU will cause. I run 3 monitors and a TV from a 7990 and it doesn't affect games performance at all.
