GTX 960 or 1060 on ASUS p5q Pro Turbo, will it BOOT without UEFI?

Hi.

Now i got the cash that i needed to upgrade my "ancient" PC to keep it running nicely. Because, now my GTX 460 is burned and died again.

I'm looking for GTX960 or GTX1060, Because both of them have right price for me (the 1060 is $100 more expensive in Indonesia)

My question is:
Will my old p5q mobo support UEFI GPU?
Will it boot without any compatibility issues?
Will my PSU supply enough juice for that GPU?
Yes I know that my CPU and my PCIE 2.0 will bottleneck this GPU, then which one should i choose?

My specs:
Intel q9400, stock @ 2.66
6GB DDR2 800
~died~ MSI GTX460 SE
ADATA SP900 64G
2x WD blue 320G
400w 80+ PSU
All this part are installed on ASUS p5q Pro Turbo, Bios: AMI ver 0701 date 2012.

Thanks for your help :)

All PCI lanes are backcompatible, so your GPU fitting in the build shouldn't be a problem, but just case, make sure it's higher than a PCI 2.0 8x. Also, I would get the GTX 960 or the GTX 1050 ti instead of the GTX 1060 considering how expensive it is for you. I don't think you would have to load the UEFI from the card in order to run the system. Good luck!

Yes, the PCIE 2.0 lane that i'm talking about is a x16 lane (the blue one, full speed)

But lots of people, especially Dell and HP mobo users clamed that they were not be able to boot with their non UEFI mobo. In the other hand, lot of youtubers do a gaming review with their G41,G33,P45 non UEFI chipset mobo successfully booted the 960 even the 1080 without compatibility issues.

You should be fine, no worries. Just grab a 960 or a GTX 1050 ti and sit back and happy gaming!

Thanks for your help.

I just bought a MSI GTX 960 armor tiger edition for $350 brand new from local computer store here.
Installed, tested on my PC. Successfully booted any issues :)
