Can I salvage my Hitachi DZHS903A Camcorder?

My camcorder still works perfectly but I used to use it with an older computer and now that that computer died, its software doesn't seem to be compatible with Windows 10--so I can't transfer the videos to my new computer. I looked online and the only downloads seems to be for Windows 7 and 8. It's a great camcorder but seemingly useless now. Is there a solution?

You may not be able to install that software, but many camcorders will show up in Windows Explorer as drives so that you can download the files, which would be much better than nothing. Have you tried that? Alternatively, find a friend with a working Windows 8 system and copy everything quick like a bunny.

Your camcorder most probably has FireWire interface. As long as you find appropriate FireWire adapter with Windows 10 drivers, you should be able to install any old app.

Take two: eBay is full of laptops running WIndows 7 and having FireWire interface.

I looked at the product description; the package contained a USB cable. So my guess is USB. In either case, same suggestions.

@Mod - that page of the manual contains words "DVD-RW/DWD-R", and "DVD-RAM/SD Memory card", so I would assume this camcorder writes to ordinary (still-in-use) media.

@Connie - can you confirm that. If so - why not copy directly from the recorded media?

Thanks to everyone for their information. I am seriously thinking about getting a computer with Windows 8 (some people have warned that Windows 7 won't be supported soon) but I've discovered my new HP laptop can run mini DVDs whereas my desktop does not, so I should be able to dub my videos to a mini then download them to my laptop.
