A friend asked me to help them install and move there files over from a 1Tb Western Digital Black To a 525Gb SSd from Crucial. They really don't want to do a fresh install, The Sdd came with a subscription to Acronis True Image is this a good tool, or can someone direct me to a good tool that does clone the Os boot drive with little to no errors

Solution

15GB? What OS is this?

Anyway, do this:
-------------------
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up...
Yes Acronis is a good program and will do what you are looking for. Make sure that the data on the WD 1 TB is around 350 GB or less. The 525 GB SSD has over-provisioning and will set aside a portion of its capacity to allow for this. And, Windows will be future updates as well (you need capacity for this).

Backup before you do anything. Backup to an external drive.

For cloning (making an exact copy of the entire disk) you need to connect the hard disk to your present computer OR to a different computer and then use a cloning software. There are a few good free cloning software that you can download and run.

There is Acronis (free download from WD's website).

Clonezilla: http://clonezilla.org/ (Will copy the entire contents; not so desirable)

Apricorn (this is what I use): http://www.apricorn.com/products/software/ezgig.html
(Needs ‘Drivewire’ - $35) - http://www.apricorn.com/media/uploads/DriveWire_Manual_...

EaseUS: http://www.easeus.com/backup-software/ (I have used this) - look for the clone option.

Macrium Reflect: http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx

After you clone the hard disk, use the newly cloned hard disk in place of the old hard disk.

Make a backup of the new setup.

How much total used space is on the current C drive?

15 Gb It appears that they only installed 2 or 3 programs before they decided that an ssd was in order.

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.
Delete the original boot partitions, here:

I didn't see your Reply until after i started the clone USAFRet, I ended up using EaseUs, It finished saying no errors, but when I tried booting though I got an error, that then restarted the machine twice then the machine booted up windows repair and it is in a loop of attempting repairs

Somewhere in there, I think you missed the boot partition.
Start over.
EaseUS might work, but my above steps WILL work.

Whichever tool you use, be sure to select ALL the relevant partitions, not just the C.

Ok I will go ahead and start the download on MacriumReflect, Do I make a boot-able Flashdrive or do i run the utility straight off the Running OS?

Straight from the running OS.
Yes, it sounds weird. But it works.

Happy to Report, I was able to get the clone to complete with Macrium Reflect, I had to shrink the size of the main partition on the old Hdd to roughly half for it to work but that wasn't a issue, other then that the Clone said it had an error, but it Boots and runs smoothly. The only main issue I had was getting it to accept all 3 partitions from the old Hdd but I resolved that.
