A few months ago my wd passport fell, it continued to work until it was plugged into a DVD player and I was watching a show, the DVD player messed up and since then my Hdd hasn't worked, it said it was unallocated but still showed all my files, I took it to a computer place and they didn't fix it, I got it back yesterday and now the Hdd says it's a healthy partition, idk how it changed, only issue now is my files are not accessible but I can see them on the Hdd, it takes a good half hour to transfer just a few megabytes, if I try to click or do too much, it instantly freezes and not responds. I ran a diagnostic scan form the wd website but it failed, I'm not sure what to do next, I just want to move all my important files and videos from this one broken Hdd to my new one. *Update, i am now trying to delete unnecessary files, its taking a VERY long time, for 5.20 gigs its sitting at about 0.35 and fluctuates saying estimated time, 7 hours!
Earlier today I did manage to move a few small ebook files which is better then before when it wouldn't even open, I am still looking for ways to move the important files but again, it is taking way to long and only going to 1% within 30 minutes to an hour. This HDD is about 930 gigs, it only has 27 gigs free hence trying to remove things in hopes it will help but it keeps freezing to the point i have to unplug it to make the computer work again...it has been over 6 months and i just want some answers since easeUS hasn't worked, WD diagnostic scans fail, the computer doctor near me didn't know what to do with it...
*update, I tried to copy a 5 gig video file, I'm not sure when but it's been 5 hours and it froze and nothing was accomplished.

Solution
i came across a few hard disks that were just plain old that stopped functioning like this.
i couldn't transfer any files because it took forever. i threw away the HD's. I think you can go to professional services that will charge a couple hundred dollars, but I figured the files inside were't worth it.

I am new to clonezilla, is there a specific one i should download? My goal is to copy the files i need safely to my other hard drive without losing them, ive tried to move individual files and it takes hours, sometimes it freezes up my hdd and my computer and i have to start all over again, sometimes the only way to get it to work again is to unplug and replug. It is a 930 gb drive but i only want about half of what is on it.
