EVA FTW 1070 Thermal Pad Issue?

I recently purchased the EVGA FTW 1070 and there have been many reports of the EVA FTW catching fire. I'm kinda concerned since they didn't add the thermal pads. I'm wondering if I should keep the card and continue to use it. Doesn't pass 80C but I'm worried. I could request thermal pads but I'd have to disassemble the GPU which I wouldn't prefer or I can return for the Asus Strix 1070 Oc. Any opinions would be great.....

Man, I used to swear by EVGA and almost grabbed a 1070 FTW card for my new build. I decided to go with MSI since they reportedly have better fans. And the high end cards are technically red but they sit red side down in a lot of configurations and the led's on the card can be customized to your color scheme. But yeah, I'd return it and look at a different brand.

As someone looking to get a1070, it made me nervous enough to not purchase one.

+Mac070 You appear to have answered your own question. If you prefer not to disassemble the GPU shroud then that leaves the option of return. Return the GPU and purchase another brand. Personally, if I were in your position I'd opt for the MSI Gaming X, but I'm sure Asus would be fine as well.

I don't really trust MSI and their high end 1070s are red, therefore not going along with my colorsn. I'm going for a all black and white build . The fact THAT EVGA is in fact offering thermal pads and giving them for free along with free shipping tells you that there is an issue

Well guys i returned it. I traded it in for the Strix 1070 and i have zero issues. It's better than the EVGA in every way. Cooler , quieter, looks better and is clocked higher at 2050MHZ... Asus has their GPU's in the bank. EVGA needs a wake up call!
And yes that MSI GPU is pretty nice.
