So I am having this problem.
whenever my computer is idle or just browsing chrome, it has the tendancy to bsod.
but when i am playing video games and doing some heavy stuf, like scanning for virusesf, it does not bsod.
this problem made my computer quite unusable when there is no game running in the background.
i cant seem to find any solutions to my problem.

my specs.
cpu: intel i5 4460
gpu: gtx 560 (underclocked)
ram: 8 gb hyperx 1866
hdd: hitachi 320 gb
psu: 600 watts

why is my gtx 560 underclocked?
its because it overheats and produces black screen when playing games when it is running at full speed so i underclocked. (that shit runs at 106 degrees on skyrim WTF)
the other problem on this graphics card is that it runs shitty on almost all games, depending on its mood.
for example: when i start skyrim, it gives me a shitty 26 fps. but when i close and open( not altabing) skyrim for a copuple of times. it gives 50 fps plus (like wtf) something is very wrong with this gpu.

do you think that this gpu is causing the bsods?
i did everything from installing the newest drivers to oldest stable ones. nothing
i also tested my ram in windows memory diagnostics and my ram is fine.
or is my old hdd is to blame?
pls help me guys.

106 degrees celsius? that is extremely bad. Your GPU is heat throttling itself to prevent further damage, so it dramatically decreases its clock speeds to reduce heat output. When was the last time you cracked open the PC? It may be time to clean it free of dust. The dust may be accumulating on your GPU, reducing airflow and increasing heat output. You have really damaged your card from having it run in extremely high temperatures, way above the limits. The moment you see temperatures like that, immediately turn it off without hesitation, before the damage goes worse. Your BSOD's are indeed caused by the GPU. Windows knew that there was something very wrong, so it turned it off. In this case, you badly damaged your card with insane amounts of heat.

You do not want to reach temperatures as high as 85c.

i clean my pc once every 2 months
its currently clean
i think it has received irrepairable damge
i cant even open google chrome without the display driver crashing and producing a sudden artifacting for a few seconds when running at stock speeds( without the underclock)
this shit currently runs at 47 degrees idle and up to 90 when gaming lower end games like dota and wot so usually enable vsync in my games to cap framrates.

time to change my gpu i guess

so it also causes the bsods on idle?

Yes, that is correct. It sounds to me that you kept trying to run that GPU on those high temperatures, causing further damage. The BSOD is all caused by your GPU. Your HDD should not be causing the BSOD's, unless you have corrupt Windows OS files. I'm sorry but it may be time to get a new GPU.

BTW - WoT? World of Tanks? Great game. I don't think it's a low end game, because it's running a pretty good (but not well known) game engine. Max graphics are pretty good
