it used to work when everything was vga and we had a vga splitter but since we bought a new tv that has hdmi instead of vga it no longer works.

we bought a long cable running straight to the tv and e have the current projector connected via vga splitter that e aways had but now we are only getting either the tv or the projector. not both.

how do we fix this??

we need a different kind of splitter??

Need more information.

What "long cable" do you have running from the laptop to the TV that is currently working?
What specific Laptop model are you working with?
What specific projector model are you working with?
What specific HDTV model are you working with?

An HDMI to VGA adapter will not work as HDMI is a digital signal and VGA is an analog signal. You would need an actual analog to digital converter (around $40).

Previously, the laptop was still only using two outputs: The display screen and the VGA output. You were using a VGA splitter to connect the third display. Now you're trying to use all three outputs (display screen, VGA, and HDMI) and it appears your laptop cannot do that.

Edit: Also, I would not have selected a Best Answer just yet. Doing so marks the thread as solved and others who may want to chime in might just pass by seeing the thread as solved. I can unselect it if you cannot.

ok so we got it to work.....we bought a hdmi splitter to replace the vga splitter and we also got a vga to hdmi converter i believe which is plugging in the vga of the projector via hdmi into the splinter and we are getting it on all 3 screens.....

the only problem is the projector not as clear as before because we using that converter..... but it good enough for our use.....

if we ever need to show a movie we will just remove the splitter and connect the vga directly to the laptop instead....
