Hi, I'm having problem accessing my external hdd as it keeps on saying "Hard Drive Corrupted and Unreadable" on the screen. I've tried the cmd "chkdsk f: /f but it says "the type of the system is NTFS. Unable to determine volume version and state. CHKDSK aborted"

Is it something about my hdd or my os issue? Please advice, thank you.

Hi there window945,

That is really unpleasant. :(

How is the drive recognized by Disk Management?
Have you tried the drive on a different system? I believe it would not hurt to do so. Also, you can use a different USB cable as well.

Also, you can try to access the drive with some data recovery tools: https://www.lifewire.com/free-data-recovery-software-tools-2622893

Keep in mind that your safest bet for recovering the data, would be to contact a data recovery company.

Cheers,

It's no longer under warranty . I had it for like 3 years already and this is the 1st time I'm having this problem.

Yea, I did tried put it into other pc, but still displayed the same result... in the disk management shows that it is under RAW system type.
I'll try recover some of my files from the given link, and we'll see how it goes from there.
