I'm voiding my warranties with this upgrade. Do you recommend these new parts? Are they compatible with my system?

I'm upgrading my graphics card to this: https://www.amazon.com/Geforce-Turbo-Auto-Extreme-Graphics-TURBO-GTX1060-6G/dp/B01K1JTCZS/ref=sr_1_3?srs=2528968011&ie=UTF8&qid=1477702754&sr=8-3&keywords=1060

I'm upgrading my power supply to this: https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Bronze-100-B1-0600-KR-Power-Supply/dp/B018JYHBE6/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1469473823&sr=1-5&keywords=power%2Bsupply&th=1

My current specs are:

Prebuilt Dell XPS 8700

Current Graphics Card: Geforce GTX 745 4 GB
Current Power Supply: Stock PSU, 460 watts w/ 6pin (385W on the 12V rail) and not modular

My two 6pins
(I'm new to this - I use Turtle Beach PX22 headphones, a logitech f130 gamepad and a Steam controller. I use all of them at the same time frequently. I know this doesn't matter much, but I'm including it anyways.)

I seriously don't know why I pixelated the Sata cable. But, here are some pictures which include the inside of my PC and ventilation.

I've also heard some things about 1070s and 1080s exploding. Does this happens to 1060s?

It was all over /r/pcmasterrace this morning

on the posting of the gpu fires. the issue is poor design by the video card vendor. on todays parts that are used on gpu and mb. they will run hot unless the vendor uses some type of cooling..fan...thermal pads. it looks like evga forgot or to save a few bucks did not make there heat sinks cover the voltage regulators on there gpu. under load they went over there max temp and having thermal runaway. on your rig take a tape messure messure from the back of the case where the old gpu is screwed in to the back of the hard drive tray. that the max lenth you have for a video card. if you dont have the room for a full lenth cards they do make shorter cards.

Won't other cards blow heat onto my other components though? I need this PC to last me long.

It's around 6"x3", I couldn't find the tape measure and rules don't fit inside. I measured paper to 6 inches and then 3, it was very close. I will assume it's 5.7 inches by 2.7 inches, as said on the site.

Should width be an issue here? I've found an msi card that's like, 4 times wider (5.5 x 10.8 vs 5.7 x 2.7). It's a 480, and I'm looking for a 1060 6GB or 480 8GB.

Is leaving my side panel off during the day also a solution? I'm fine doing that.

Dumb question, but how can I tell if my XPS is proprietary?

Do you recommend any PSUs? I really don't know what I'm doing, I might end up with another bad PSU.

Also make sure the new PSU is not too long , there is a little space to work with.

PSU is 5 1/2 inches long and wide, it is 3 inches high.

Forget what I said earlier about the GPU, the site listed it LHW. My GPU itself is almost 6 inches in length and 3 wide.

The blue line in the picture from before, that entire blue line is 9" length to work with if I understood.

From the back of the case (which is the right side of it when the front of the PC is facing you. I'm talking about where my GPU is attached) to the side panel, there is 6". That's 4 1/2 inches to the black thing (I circled the black thing in blue)

If I was confusing or missed information, I'll try to make more sense or get the missing information. I'm not good with words.

(For the back of the case to the black thing which I said was 4 1/2", that might not be right. it's anywhere from 4" to 5".)

Any RX 480 or GTX 1060. I'd prefer something with a blower cooler so I can keep my side panel on without buying a bunch of fans, but I can just keep my panel off and use some compressed air weekly.
