Computer Turns On But Monitor Displays Nothing

Recently I helped a friend upgrade. We purchased a new motherboard, CPU, RAM, and GPU. We were using the same HDD and PSU. WE got the computer to turn on, all the lights and fans activate, but nothing appears on screen. WE have tried two different monitors, different RAM configurations, and plugging the display directly into the motherboard.
Any help is appreciated.

What parts are you upgrading fromand what to?
When you plugged into the motherboards video ports, did you make sure to uninstall the video card first? All the power cables are plugged in entirly (I do that a lot)?
