Hey everyone!

I've been having an intermittent issue with my GTX 970 ever since I got it a little over a year ago. I had originally bought that card in order to solve a problem I was having where my PC would crash while playing demanding games. For some time, I thought purchasing the 970 solved this problem, but it's becoming increasingly more obvious at this point that it only mitigated it.

If I pump the settings up to graphics level 7 in WoW: Legion, the issue occurs generally within 30 minutes of playing.

Symptoms: Screen goes dark and sound jitters for a moment before recovering. Nothing I do seems to help bring the screen back short of restarting. I can still talk to friends on Discord, and the game does doesn't disappear. I can even shut down the computer "normally" by pressing the power button and it goes through the shutdown sequence correctly.

What's really strange is that the only way to get the display working again is to do a hard reset. Turning in off and back on results in strange behaviour where I see the BIOS complete and the Windows loading screen appear only for the computer to revert back to the Black Screen state.

Things I've tried to fix the issue:

Replaced the Power Supply
Replaced the Motherboard
Reinstalled Windows (a few times)

I've purchased some new DDR4 RAM in the hopes that somehow the issue is being cause by that, but I won't be getting my hopes up.

I hope you have some ideas!

Thanks :)

If you try onboard MOBO graphics and have the same issues than it could be your CPU, I was having somewhat of a same issue here is the thread link:

If you try onboard and it works, good chance you video card is overheating or having other issues. I would download CPUZ or HWmonitor to see what your internal temps are to rule that out. If not, it could be your CPU.
