Need to upgrade from i5-2400 to play BF1. FX-8300 w/ OC, or used i7-3770K?

I am having performance drops in Battlefield 1 on large maps with my current build, down to about 40 FPS. I know my CPU is the bottleneck. It is an old Core i5-2400 with a small overclock to 3.4 GHz.

I know I need to upgrade, but my budget is $200 because I am a poor college student. I have narrowed my upgrade options to two possibilities: Get a used i7-3770K on eBay to fit my existing LGA 1155 system, or buy a brand-new FX-8300 and motherboard, then overclock it to around 4GHz.

I primarily use my PC for gaming and photo editing. Which should I choose, or is there a better option?

Other system info that may or may not be relevant:
1080p 60Hz monitor
Windows 7 home 64-bit
2x4 GB DDR3-2133
SSD and CoolerMaster aftermarket CPU cooler

You even have solid motherboard what is even better reason to go 3770k and dont even think about FX 8300.
Even at stock speeds i7 will outperform heavily OC'd FX 8300. Just get that i7 and never look back at AMD FX.
Also dont forget to upgrade BIOS for best stability and OC.

Go for i7 3770k, it is much better CPU than FX 8300. Getting FX you will also need to reinstall windows, also if you want to OC you will need good motherboard and PSU.I7 3770k is clear winner here without doubt.
What motherboard and GPU do you have??

Do you think a 2600K would do as well too? I know it overclocks a little easier and it's much cheaper on eBay.

It would but 3770k is better and since you already have fast DDR3 RAM 3770k is better pick since it benefits more from faster RAM than 2600k.

Did the first guy seriously suggest the AMD 8300? Hahaha.

Definitely the 3770k. The 8300 could be half the price (which it isn't) and I would still choose the 3770k.

This is coming from a person who actually likes AMD but would never recommend any of their current offerings due to lackluster performance (CPUs or GPUs).
