Full HDD to SSHD transfer, cant afford Pocket HDD

Okay so my HDD is going out and I've decided to buy an SSHD to replace it, but my question is how to I transfer everything from my old drive to the new sshd, and my computer (Asus ROG g750jm) has 2 slots for HDD's or SSD's in it already so I can have two in at the same time, without a pocket HDD, and I can't afford to get pro help.... I just need to know what to do.. and how to do it, I legit can't afford to mess up, and I can't make a backup either.

Solution

If the current drive and OS are working mostly OK, no reason you can't do a direct clone from A to B. No pocket HDD needed.

These steps, in order:
-----------------------------
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C...

What sizes are the two drives?
How much total used space is on the current C drive?

Why an SSHD?

No specific reason for sshd, I like the memory feature, so it launches my most used programs quicker n stuff, and they are both 1tb, I don't know how much is on the current one atm, I can't be more that ~100 gb+ windows files, I just reset my PC like 3 days before the problem occurred....

Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.
Delete the original boot partitions, here:

Okay but the thing is i cant just switch the cables, if you look up my computer you'll notice its a laptop, a big one, but still a laptop...I have two ports for hard drives and i just kinda slide them in....And its a SSHD not a SSD is it still the same general thing than?

P.S Sorry for the extent of questions but i really need to know 100% how to do this, i really dont wanna screw it up...

Ah, laptop.
No problem

Same basic procedure. Instead of switching cables, swap the places where the drives sit.
Connect the new drive however...either in the second space, or with an external dock.
Do the clone thing
Power off.
Put the new drive in the location where the old drive was.
Power up.
It should work.

And no...an SSHD makes no difference. The system and OS sees it as just another single drive.

Nvm, I was talking about the Reflect, and i was cloning it and everything was good until it told me the Clone failed and that " LOCATION IS NOT AVALIBLE F:\ is not accessible The disk structure is corrupt or unreadable"

Also i got this off of CrystalDiskInfo, c5 Current Pending Sector Count and it says my drive is in 'Caution' state, Could this be making my clone fail?

If its an actual failing drive, there is no 'fix'.
Replace.

Is it the source or target that seems to be failing?
In your original, you stated "so my HDD is going out"
Is it not reading from that fully, or is the target drive hosed?

I try to clone my original HDD (The one with the bad sector) to my new SSHD (I bought it yesterday) and it fails saying "The Drive or directory is corrupt or unreadable" and it is in the middle of cloning the Primary partition, (Win 10 btw) when it stops the clone and gives me that Unreadable drive message

Should i just save up for a new copy of windows or download a iso for it?

It sounds like it cannot read from the failing source drive.

If your current Win 10 is actually activated, you do not need to buy a new OS.
Use the MediaCreation tool and create your own USB or DVD install media.,
Use that to do a new install on that new SSHD.

Disconnect ALL drives except the new one
Boot from that install thing you made.
Install
When it asks for the license key, select "I don't have one"
Later, when it is online, it will activate itself.

Of course, with a whole new OS install, you have to install all your drivers and applications
Prepare for this.

Here lays the problem, I don't have a USB or CD to make a media (Big Enough, Unless 14gb is big enough) anyway, and I can't just go buy one.. And the drivers, I would need a detailed walkthrough that's exact on in order to feel safe doing a new os install

Any USB stick 4GB or larger will work.

"Before you download the tool make sure you have:"
"A blank USB flash drive or DVD (and DVD burner) with at least 4 GB of space if you want to create media. We recommend using a blank USB or blank DVD, because any content on it will be deleted."

Okay but what about the Drivers?

The OS install should have enough basic drivers to get the system up and running.
Once you have a network connection, you can go get anything specialized.

The OS will have enough to get up and running.
After it is installed, you can go to nVidia, etc and download whatever is the latest driver.

That's not what I'm asking, I'm very sorry for continuing this thread as you have other stuff to do and I understand that, But what all drivers will I need to download, Like my GPU is one that I know, But what other drivers will I need to get myself, (Asus Rog G750jm)

P.S I really really do appreciate you helping me, as I wouldn't have even got as far as I am without your help. So thank you.

Basically, all the drivers for your hardware.
Go to the motherboard website and look around. You'll figure out what to get. Motherboard chipset, audio, etc, etc.
Similar with keyboard.
Similar with GPU.

Could i download a Win 10 ISO from them, and just install it on the secondary drive. and then download some kind of software that tells me what drivers i need to download?
