Hi all,

I'm almost at the point of going and purchasing all my parts for my very first personal build. Unfortunately, the Samsung 850 Evo 2.5 inch is out of stock everywhere at the moment. However the 850 Evo M.2 is not and is the same price.

What I'm wondering is whether or not it will be compatible with the MSI Z170 Gaming Pro Carbon. I just don't want to waste my money on something incompatible.

I'm from Australia, I have had multiple bad experiences ordering computer hardware from overseas. My local stores have the best prices in Australia. The M.2 is cheaper than the 2.5 inch drive, and the performance seems very near. My primary question, however, was whether or not the MSI Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard supports SATA based M.2 drives.

I guess it would be fine, but the M.2 drive might thermal throttle compared to the 2.5" drive.
