how to know if a certain computing device will fit into my pc

like the graphic card, cpu processor, power supply etc. i want to upgrade a lot of those parts. my pc is a Gateway DX4370G-UW10.

If you are upgrading "a lot of those parts" you are probably better off just selling the computer and starting clean. OEM systems can be troublesome with upgrades, video cards may not work, power connectors may be custom, case shape is funny and some video cards may not fit, etc...

you can try and use pcpartpicker.com if you want to build a brand new PC, but since you want to upgrade your old one:
1-CPU, check the chipset ex. if you want an i5 6600K that requires a Z170 motherboard check if you have that, also check the compatible RAM as i5 6600K requires that Z170 mobo, which only supports DD4 Ram or DDR3-L Ram.

2-Graphics card, check if you have enough space for it, measure the distance between the motherboard and Hard disk bay for the card's length and the clearance between the motherboard and the case for the card's width, also and this is very important check if your power supply has enough voltage and amperes to run the card you want, finally make sure the CPU is not very old as to not bottleneck the card's performance.

3-Powersupply, pretty much all will work

If any power supply expert comes by the thread he can help more about the voltages and amperes thingy cause I'm not much of an expert

first you find out what cpu you currently have, and the motherboard make and model

then with that info you go and look which cpu's are compatible for an upgrade, and whether the motherboard has a proper pcie slot


then you find out the make and model of the power supply

this will let you know if it is good enough to power the gpu you want



then you open your case and measure the space, to make sure the gpu you want will actually fit inside

If you are upgrading "a lot of those parts" you are probably better off just selling the computer and starting clean. OEM systems can be troublesome with upgrades, video cards may not work, power connectors may be custom, case shape is funny and some video cards may not fit, etc...
