why has my wired mouse stopped working?

So i was just playing some games using my wired mouse and all of a sudden it stopped working
1. i checked the device manager thing (using windows 7)
2. i took it out and plugged it in
But when i started playing L4D2 it worked but now it doesn't and i know it has something to do with the LED light at the bottom (it's a BAKTH wired mouse)

EDIT: it says it has malfunctioned and now I'm a bit scared because this was ALOT of money

Did you try plugging it into a different usb port? If the lights and things no longer work and the mouse is not responding it sounds like it may have malfunctioned. Is it under warranty? Mice are relatively plug and play with standard windows mouse drivers being enough to allow it to operate. Additional drivers for mice are typically for onboard macro storage and additional features beyond working as a standard pointing device.

It's possible the usb port (which supplies power to the mouse as well as the data connection) could have malfunctioned. If testing in other usb ports and other usb devices work fine in the port your mouse was plugged into then you'll probably need a new mouse.
