16gb ram installed 7.96 usable.

This has been driving me crazy, I've not been able to fix this.

The ram works just fine, i tested it twice but windows refuses to use it.

Does your ram show in the bios? Did you try to boot with 1 stick each time to test them? Maybe the ports are faulty, or just ram issue. Btw, have you updated your bios?

The ram and ports work, I made sure to test them before posting.

I have not updated my bios since i got the motherboard because i dont know how to.

ah heck, didn't mean to mark you as best solution, how do i undo that?

the ram is corsair vengeance running at 1600mhz and the other ram is corsair (something, i dont know its model number) running at 1333mhz. I was told that my system would underclock the faster ram to make them compatible.

My cpu is a FX 8320 and its cooler is a H100i

) while yes the mobo will try and downclock the DRAM to try and get them compatible there are no guarantees, try raising the DRAM voltage + 0.05 and the CPU/NB voltgae set to 1.2

ah, think ive found my issue.

one of the sticks seems to have died.

Windows is reporting 12gb ram now instead of 16.

honestly im tempted to just get some more corsair vengance, this ram was free so i wanted to give it a go.
