Hello. I'm currently working on a PC build, and because I am on tight budged i want to use my old hard disk. And i read somewhere that using old hard disk in new PC build can kill of your components, and I'm bit scared of that. So please tell me, is it possible to do it and how to do it.
Also I'm switching from older system and going with newer Skylake processor and DDR4 ram.

Solution

1. Have only that one drive connected.
2. When you install, be sure you are booting from the Win 10 DVD or USB
3. When the install routine asks 'where', select Custom.
4. Select each existing partition, and Delete. Leaving one large space.
5. Create a partition using that whole space, and then let the OS create what it needs.

I've never heard of that occurring. I could be wrong, but that means that my last 3 computers had the possibility of dying. :D Take the HDD out, put it into the new computer, should be easy as that. Connect power and SATA and you're golden.

The physical drive is probably OK.
It will obviously die sooned than a new one. But it won't kill anything else.

Now...if you are talking about the drive AND the OS on it, that's a whole different thing.

So I just connect everything and just start pc and install windows? I don't need to format HDD or something like that, do old drivers get deleted or what? Please give me more info about this if you can.
