Should I upgrade my GPU or CPU first?

I currently have a GTX 750 Ti and an FX-4300 on my pc and their both getting pretty outdated. I want to upgrade my pc but I don't know which one is worth to upgrade first. I'm on a pretty limited budget. So should I get a new gpu or a new cpu? And any suggestions what to buy?

Solution
I wouldn't recommend updating to Zen for two reasons:
-you would need a new motherboard along with a new CPU
-the GPU would be even more out of date

The FX 4300, being a quad-core can still pull some weight. Overclock it if you have the proper cooling. For $200 I recommend getting the RX 470 or a 1050 Ti and let the GPU carry the weight of the system for a while.

The FX 4300 is equivalent to an i3 6100 which is enough for avergae gaming, and I would upgrade the GPU personally, as your CPU could handle it for now. No point getting a new CPU that would be partly idle. Ideally upgrade both though, as the FX 4300 is not exactly great.

NO NO NO NO the FX 4300 = nothing Intel offers.

I meant in as much as it's effectively a 3.8GHz dual core with HT. Obviously Intel Skylake chips are far better (that's a no brainer), but AMD chips are not as dreadful as everyone makes out and only really fail to compete at the very high end. Upgrade the GPU..

Yeah don't get me wrong I wouldn't use AMD CPU/APU's anymore lol but they have enough in the tank to know how to make mid-range processors. It's only when you compare flagship technology that the cracks really appear, plus you can OC them until they glow white hot! I agree they aren't great though... but neither is a 750Ti.

Still wrong skylake gave very little performance increase. For gaming I would take a i3 4360/70 and mop the floor with a FX 4300
The bad thing is he has a bad processor and video card for gaming.

Obviously, an i3 4360 is three times the price of an FX 4300.. I didn't say Skylake was markedly better than Haswell, I agree with you it isn't. You are taking what I say out of context. Any better CPU would be wasted with a 750.
