Hi everyone,

second time poster.

I just got an i5 3570k cpu with an asus p8z68-v lx (uefi bios) mobo and trying to overclock it on a stock fan + arctic silver thermal paste.

I have a gtx 970 in here and trying to get the most out of it as my former 2310 i5 was bottlenecking it hard.

Would anyone help me in overclocking this properly? I've seen videos and read other threads but none with my specific mobo and I'm not sure some of them know what they are even doing lol.

Appreciate any help thank you!

Yeah too risky. Of coarse it will definitely do it, but its going to cause way more stress and heat than its supposed to. The stock fans are junk. If you are going to get into it I would highly recommend that you get a decent aftermarket cooler. And those stories are from overclockers, nobody is going to post a story about how they fried their cpu like its cool lol

I got a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan on the way too. Should I just wait for that to come in? just feeling a bit anxious about wanting to try it lol

Yeah I would. Its a very popular cooler that comes highly recommended. Are you doing push pull config on it or just push? I would recommend when you have a little extra throwing a 2nd fan on it. Still be careful trying to pull the full potential out of it. CPU's arent cheap :)

The one that I'm getting, do you know if it comes with both or do I need to buy the 2nd fan separately? Is it easy to install? I would imagine it is. Thanks for all your help btw!!! :)

I think one. I wont be hard. The first one wont come already attached either. The only thing is, is that if it only comes with one then it most likely will not come with a 2nd bracket. You may have tto contact cooler master and ask them to send 1
