I have
i5 4440
EVGA GTX 970
12 GB of ram
1 tb hybrid seagate drive
750 watt psu
gigabyte Z97 motherboard

until about 3 weeks ago i haven't had an issue with any games or processes on my computer but now all of the sudden whenever i play a game like battlefield 1 or ftb infinity i get 30-50 fps whereas i would usually get about 280 on ftb. when i load up battlefield, my cpu usage goes up to 92% and my disk usage goes up to 100%. I have no idea what to do and if possible i would like to not throw $350 at a new processor or a new gpu. Please help!

Bf1 appears to be poorly optimized at the moment, maybe they'll release a patch for it. Even i5 6600k's oc'd are maxed out and i7 6700k's are getting pegged pretty hard. The more players on the map the worse it gets, it's really cpu intensive. A lot of people who played the beta version didn't have the same kind of issues people are seeing with the final release. It's the exception rather than the rule though.

If disk usage is up to 100% it might be worth checking task manager to see what else is running. It's possible there's a windows update or something else running in the background interfering. Have you updated any drivers recently that may be the culprit, any sort of software change, game updates, windows updates etc?

i just ran this and it did absolutely nothing to help my frames in game.

Check to see that you're not thermally throttling. If your temperatures are exceeding ~95c on your CPU, chances are good it's downclocking and causing reduced framerates. Also check your clockspeeds using something like CPU-Z, and check task manager to make sure nothing is eating up CPU cycles in the background.
