I just bought a new (to me) k70 Vengeance Blue and when i plug the USB3.0 plug of the two (the one with the keyboard symbol on it), the PC immediately shuts down and displays the "over current, PC will reboot in 15 seconds" into the motherboard. However, this does not happen when plugged into the front panel USB 3.0 port.

So my question is, why do i have this problem when plugging directly into the motherboard, but not with the front panel? Obviously its pretty hideous to have keyboard cord going across the desk and into the PC. Is it a problem with the keyboard or the USB ports in the back of my PC?
