Hello, everyone.
I am in a desperate need of help. Any advises, tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I currently have my secondary laptop with me as my primary computer (a decent desktop) is at my house, while I am away.
My laptop isn't a gaming laptop at all. It does not have a dedicated graphics card. It has Intel HD Graphics 4000 (which is not even meant to be for gaming). However, I am stuck with this laptop for at least another month. So I really really need help.
A few months ago, I tried playing GTA 5 on this laptop and to be honest, even my toaster could handle GTA 5 better than this laptop did. However, I turned off the shadows and played it on minimum graphics possible with a playable FPS.
I even played Skyrim on this and... well, on low graphics settings it was quite playable.
However... a few weeks ago, I dropped my laptop. When I switched it ON, there was an automated disk check up. I skipped it as I wanted to know if the laptop was fine. It SEEMED fine then. But when I tried playing games on it, it was horrible. Even minecraft is now lagging (at the lowest graphics settings). Playing GTA 5 and Skyrim on this now feels like a fantasy.
I figured out that the fall must have had damaged the HDD. So I ran many disk checks and HDD repairs. But after a few days I just decided to change the HDD completely.
After changing my hard disk... well, there's been an improvement for sure. But the thing is, that improvement is restricted to certain games only... I mean, after the fall, I tried playing Farcry 2 and it was not playable. But now, after I replaced my hard disk, its playable. However, games like Skyrim, GTA 5 or CS GO are still not playable. When I begin to play Skyrim, its actually playable. It has around 30 fps just like it did before the fall. But it starts to lag after 2 mins of gameplay, it starts to STUTTER. I dont know if its a lag or stutter. But its a little different from the usual lags I have experienced until now. It runs okay for 2 secs and stutters the next 2. Its like a fast slideshows of photos for 2 secs and then smooth again for another 2 secs. And when I minimize the game and open it again, it run smooth for about 2 or 3 mins again. And then starts the same stutter-smooth cycle again.
I tried to check my temperature while gaming. Its 77 C for the GPU and just around the same for CPU. I opened my laptop, cleaned all the dust in it, checked if the fan was installed properly and it looked all fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
